On July 31, 2026, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) announced the state’s paid leave premium rate for 2027. The premium rate will remain unchanged at 0.88% for 2027, which also covers family leave (0.27%) and medical leave (0.61%). For small employers, the premium rate will also remain unchanged at 0.66% for 2027. To qualify as a small employer, an employer must have 30 or fewer employees for each quarter, and employee wages cannot exceed 150% of the state average weekly wage ($27,745.88) per quarter.

Employers should be aware of the 2027 premium rates and should visit the Minnesota Paid Leave site for further information regarding these benefits. For additional information, PPI clients can download State PFML and Statutory Disability Programs: A Quick Reference Chart from the PPI Help Center.
