Minnesota Employers with 100 or More Employees Must Register for State Retirement Program by June 30, 2026

May 19, 2026

Minnesota employers with 100 or more employees must either sign up for Minnesota’s Secure Choice Retirement Program and set up Roth IRAs or obtain an exemption from participating by June 30, 2026.

The Minnesota Secure Choice Retirement Program was established by statute in 2023 to provide a retirement savings program for Minnesota residents who do not have access to a retirement plan through their employer. We reported on this program in a June 6, 2023, Compliance Corner article.

Minnesota employers with 100 or more employees should be aware of this deadline.
