Employers doing business in Massachusetts (including those that have one or more employees working in or remotely from Massachusetts) should be aware of the state's laws regarding continuation of health benefits, leave, and other notable requirements related to employee benefits. This publication focuses on the benefits compliance obligations that fall on employers. There are numerous state insurance laws that apply to carriers sponsoring fully insured plans.
The publication includes an MA PFML Benefits Chart (Appendix A) and a Sample Employee Communication for advising Massachusetts employees of the updated paid family and medical leave premium as of each January 1 (Appendix B).
